We are students from the California College of the Arts in a Young Adult Literature course. We are dealing with issues in young adult novels that include things like ethnicity, gender, sexuality, death, and so on. We hope through exploring these themes we can connect to younger readers. We are trying to get books known that are written in the perspective of minorities, different genders, and different sexualities.
We are also working with the students at the Oakland School for the Arts, and other schools in hopes of getting their own writings out to the general public. In doing this we hope to create a space for younger authors to publish their works. We also hope to create a site that will get people interested in reading new writers, and exploring books that were fundamental in shaping our middle/high school lives.
